Elevation Construction brings an investor’s mindset to every project
In the video, Chris walks you through a small insurance project they are working on for a client while discussing the importance of hiring licensed workers. A few weeks ago some of the tub water from upstairs came down the drain, into the ceiling, and the ceiling collapsed in the downstairs bathroom. This project highlights the importance of having work done by licensed professionals in order to avoid future issues such as this.
Hire the right experts for the job
Whenever you need specialty work done such as plumbing or electrical work, you want to hire someone who’s licensed and experienced. Just because someone is a licensed general contractor does not mean that they should be doing specialized work like plumbing or electrical.
A good general contractor will focus on what they’re doing with their renovations or building and will bring on licensed electricians or licensed plumbers to do the work. When you hire a general contractor, make sure you’re asking them what they do for plumbing and electrical work. At Elevation Construction, we bring in licensed electricians and plumbers to do that work for us.

In this current project highlighted in the video, our licensed plumber is fixing the problem. Because the ceiling collapsed, the drywall got wet. We had mold mitigation come in to get it all dried out. When we removed the drywall, we found some work that probably should have been done a different way. Turns out the drain had not been installed properly, and our licensed plumber fixed that for us. While the wall is open, we’re fixing that so that way we don’t have any future issues with plumbing behind the wall.
Today the water is going to be shut off while our plumber is working. The shower surround is being installed after the plumbing is done, our drywall guy will do his part, and finally the painter will take care of the mill work. Our cleaning team will come in to make sure the property is ready to go on the market and rent it out for the owner.
At the end of the day, if there are no tenants in here paying rent, the return on investment is non-existent. Our goal is to make sure you get that return on the investment as quickly as possible while ensuring quality work.
When you hire a general contractor, check out their experience and reviews.
Do some research by checking out their Facebook, website, and reviews. Ask for references, and check them out. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. If you’ve got plumbing work, ask about the plumbers they have on their team. The last thing that you want is to have really nice work done, and find out something in the electrical or plumbing wasn’t installed correctly. You want to know that the work is done correctly by licensed professionals to avoid future disasters like the project we are working on in this house.
