From the Battlefield in Afghanistan to Home Remodel Mastery: Elevation Construction’s Incredible Journey
In the unforgiving terrain of Afghanistan, where survival and ingenuity were paramount, a remarkable journey was set in motion. It was 2009 when Chris Tighe, a determined member of the World’s Finest Navy, was deployed to a remote region in western Afghanistan to work alongside U.S. Special Forces. Upon his arrival, he was met with an unexpected and formidable challenge: Chris was the first member of his unit to set foot there, and he needed to build their operations center from scratch.
Home Remodeling in Afghanistan?
Chris had zero experience in construction. Yet, with a blend of sheer determination and an unwavering commitment to his mission, he embarked on a path that would forever change his life. Between missions (check out this video of Chris’s team getting stuck in a river) over the next seven months, through trial and error, learning and adapting, Chris transformed the barren site into a fully functional operations center. This impressive build included plumbing, septic, electrical systems, IT infrastructure, a maintenance area, a recreation area, a lounge area, and a comprehensive operations hub to support the Special Forces in western Afghanistan.
This baptism by fire in the world of construction instilled in Chris a deep-seated passion for building and creating. Fast forward to 2020, Chris found himself at the helm of a thriving property management company. When his clients began seeking someone trustworthy to oversee the renovation of apartment complexes, Chris didn’t hesitate. Drawing from his invaluable experiences in Afghanistan, he embraced the challenge head-on. And so, Elevation Construction was born in Tacoma, Washington.

After establishing our roots in Tacoma, Washington, Elevation Construction embarked on its journey with a focus on apartment renovations. One of our earliest and most impressive projects was the complete renovation of a 16-unit apartment complex, showcasing our ability to deliver outstanding results on time and within budget.
A New Chapter in Houston, Texas!
In 2022, feeling a strong desire to live in Texas, Chris and his family took a leap of faith. They sold their home in Washington and relocated to the Greater Houston Area, opening Elevation Construction in Houston, Texas. This move was driven by a shared vision of growth and community, aligning perfectly with their commitment to quality and innovation in home remodeling.
